  • OVERBURDEN
  • LANDSCAPING ROCKS

According to Civil Engineering design (TRH14), Granular materials, gravels and soils are classified accordingly:

  • G1, G2 & G3 are your strongest (Graded Crushed Stone – commonly referred to as “Crusher Run”) materials manufactured by the commercial quarries
  • G10 is topsoil which is great for the garden but has no structural strength! It can’t be used in construction for roads, under buildings, platforms, etc.
  • G6 Gravel – We supply a natural gravel which passes the specifications for a G6 graded material (CBR of 25 at 93% MDD). Our G6 gravel is our best “Natural Gravel” Option for roads, driveways, under buildings, etc! It is not as strong as your manufactured Graded Crushed stone, but it is ideal for base courses & sub-base course under roads & buildings. It is also great when mixed with Cement to create a C4 material – good for base courses!
  • Our G7 is not as strong as our G6 in terms of structural strength (CBR of 15 at 93%) for the construction industry, slightly finer material & lighter in colour. It is used extensively for backfilling behind retaining walls, banks, etc.
  • Similarly, our G9 is not as strong as our G7 gravel with a CBR strength of only 7 at “in situ”. It has more impurities, considerable clay content & is ideal for fill material, landscaping, etc which doesn’t require much structural strength. We have supplied a lot of this material, for the flood damage repairs needed in areas without structural requirements
  • Our Overburden is unspecified & ideal for mass filling of gardens, washaways, filling alongside rives, landscaping, etc.
  • Landscaping Rocks – we have a selection of landscaping rocks available. Unfortunately we don’t deliver these as they are a personal choice & we advise our customers to choose the rocks they want & require. We will assist with the loading. Most people collect via bakkie load for their own private use.
